Accreditation, in Jubilee’s view, implies a promise the college has no interest in making: that students will be better positioned to compete for limited opportunities within a system that is already showing its limits. Jubilee’s purpose is not to help students navigate that system more skillfully but to nourish their capacity to imagine and build what comes next. What students leave with is a rigorous, individualized record of learning outcomes developed in collaboration with faculty and advisors during the opening weeks of their first year, and direct entry into one of the most distinctive post-graduation pathways in American education.
For most students, Jubilee’s apprenticeship program is the primary path forward after their two years at Jubilee. Rather than leaving graduates to navigate their next steps alone, Jubilee matches each student with mentors and master practitioners who are top leaders in their fields through a unique placement program customized to each student’s gifts, drawn from the college’s extraordinary community of founders, advisors, visiting faculty, and partners.

No, there are no formal grades or traditional GPAs at Jubilee. However, there are rigorous, qualitative evaluations of students’ work.
Each September, the faculty names individual and collective learning outcomes.
Each April, faculty reviews progress toward these outcomes for the individual student and the cohort. These April reviews are comprehensive and take stock of each student’s intellectual, and other achievements. Students can pass or fail the April review.

All new students begin in August of their first year, and the program concludes approximately 24 months later.
Graduation takes place in the summer of year 2.

No. To graduate from Jubilee, students must successfully complete the academic and other learning requirements.

Yes. To remain in good standing, students must maintain an expected level of academic performance as well as remain motivated and engaged within the learning community.
Core faculty will review this with students.

Yes, following successful completion of the program, students will be invited to graduate and participate in the graduation ceremonies.
However, no degree is awarded, as Jubilee is an unaccredited institution.
Student Life

During summer, students work on campus or in the region for six weeks, and have time-off for six weeks.

Evenings and weekends are generally reserved for personal time, and for festive time(!) with fellow students and with everyone in the learning community: from live music events, to pop-up theater, arts and crafts, starry-campfire storytelling circles, swimming, hiking/snowshoeing, or long afternoons by the pool in the meadow. Four-day breaks each month between academic blocks offer more time for integration.

Students live in tiny-home cabins located on the Upper Campus of the 83 acres in the Little Castle Creek valley beneath Castle Crags.

No. Bikes and/or snowshoes and/or shuttle vans are used to get into town (3 miles one-way, 10 minute bike ride).Vans are also used for regional excursions, etc.

No. Jubilee is a residential program. Learning with and from the land and place is a key part of the curriculum.

Tuition for all students is free, offered in a spirit of gift.Housing and meals are also free, offered in a spirit of reciprocity in exchange for students’ work on campus.
No student should expect to take out any debt to attend Jubilee College.
Personal expenses such as supplemental food or dining out, travel to and from home, other personal transportation, tickets or fees to optional programs, etc, are not included or paid for by Jubilee College.

Yes, you can attend Jubilee without a high school diploma.

Jubilee College asks students to have proficiency in English and does not offer ESL (English as a second language) programs.

No. Jubilee College is a non-denominational college. Unlike most colleges today, we invite students to bring their religious and spiritual life into our classroom and community life. This weaving of diverse spiritual perspectives, cosmologies, and theologies will create a kind of festival of faiths, celebrating many traditions. While a religious or spiritual life is not a requirement for enrolling in Jubilee, a key aspect of the program is inner development and contemplative practice.
